Yes, I am challenged by procrastination energies a lot of the time. So, I thought, why not write about it!
The definition of “procrastination” is: The action of delaying or postponing something.
So, why do we procrastinate? There are several possibilities. Anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, perfectionism, control issues, lack of motivation, lack of interest, aversion to the task at hand, resistance, fear of failure, fear of success, fear of criticism, and a disconnect from our future self or the potential future outcome.
What if we can’t control every detail of the task or situation? How do we still retain the feeling of being in our power and empowered? What is it about the task or situation that seems to be disempowering us? Where does this feeling really originate? Childhood? Past lives?
How do we make the project more manageable and break it up into smaller tasks so that it is not so overwhelming? How do we use time management to block out small amounts of time to work on one idea at a time? Making lists of what needs to be accomplished and then prioritizing is helpful. Scheduling time each week that is devoted to the task at hand is also beneficial.
How do we come into an acceptance that what we create IS GOOD ENOUGH? It CAN be a work in progress as ideas and projects often are. We do the best we can in the moment and then allow for redirection and change if needed. Release self-judgment. The point is to create and get it out there!
We also have to factor in Divine Timing. Divine Timing is defined as, “A force the propels events in life to happen at the right moment – and for an underlying reason.” It is the belief that everything in life happens exactly when it is supposed to, and in the way that it is meant to happen.
So, when we are considering larger projects, such as building a website, launching a new company, writing that book, blog or newsletter, we have to trust that perhaps there is a reason for the delay of the energy moving forward. Maybe, just maybe, this has to do with Divine Timing and not procrastination……at least not totally. 🙂

The moral of this story is: Let go of the reasons that you hold yourself back and procrastinate in doing something. Believe in yourself! Tackle the project, idea or situation to the best of your ability, and then trust and let Divine Timing take care of the rest!
